Vibrant Meridian Public Art

Permanent Public art

UNDERCONSTRUCTION

Located at the Marcy-SUNY Parkway roundabout, marking the entrance to Wolfspeed's Mohawk Valley Fab in New York State, USA, the VIBRANT MERIDIAN sculpture is a unique public art piece inspired by Wolfspeed's work in wide bandgap semiconductors. These semiconductors play a crucial role in electric vehicles, 5G, renewable energy, defense, and aerospace.

The concept behind the sculpture is that its shape undergoes a transformation from the original semiconductor properties and molecules of silicon carbide and gallium nitride, evolving into a 3D form composed of horizontal and vertical lines. This transformation represents a shift, turning the initial product into a symbolic representation of several curved steel sticks painted with a gradient of complementary colors, creating a visually striking contrast between the layers. This thoughtful design not only adds a dynamic and vibrant appearance, when viewed in motion by drivers in the roundabout but also serves as a symbolic representation of Wolfspeed's technological contributions in the field of wide bandgap semiconductors.
